United
Counties League Premier
Division - Saturday 17th February
Long
Buckby (6) - (4)
Yaxley
Yaxley
made the best start in memory as James Picillo gave the Cuckoos a second minute
lead but Darren Harmon marked his return from a long term injury with the Bucks'
14th minute leveller. Yaxley soon regained the lead with a 21st minute Picillo
effort and the home side were really up against it when Picillo completed his
hat trick after 48 minutes.
Kevin Slinn cut the deficit after 58 minutes and hat-trick hero Picillo was
surprisingly substituted with home-bred Lewis Lecky. Jon Crockett squared
the contest on 64 minutes and a second Crockett goal after 70 minutes put the
home side in front for the first time. Three minutes later Chris Gospel put
Buckby further ahead with an own goal as he desperately tried to clear from the
line .
Simon Acton's 75th minute penalty kept Yaxley in the game but Slinn sealed the
home side's win with five minutes remaining.
The Cuckoos were missing returning 1st team 'keeper Jodi Vincent (who
broke his finger in training), Mark Paul, Adam Scotcher and to add to his
problems, stand-in 'keeper Dunne was carrying an injury that restricted his
mobility from Wednesday's 2-0 win over S&L Corby.
Yaxley will be looking to put this roller-coaster game
behind them as they travel to Blackstone's on Tuesday evening for the next
league fixture.
