The Cuckoos avenged their boxing day 2-1 loss against the Wakes with a solid 5-2 win.

Mark Paul re-found his form with a well deserved hat-trick, Ricky Hailstone tucked away a second half penalty and an own-goal from the visitors all contributed to another 3 points towards safety.

With close chances coming from Richard Challinor, Chris lenton, Mark Kingston and John Stead, the Cuckoos controlled much of the game but the Wakes weren't lying down and playing dead having several wide shots wasted.

Yaxley are in action again in just 48 hours as they face local rivals St. Neots for more league action on Wednesday evening at Leading Drove - 7:45pm KO
