The Cuckoos suffered what manager Gary Clipston believes was a temporary setback in the battle for Premier Division survival as the Cooks emerged narrow Leading Drove winners. "We're not going to win every game on the run in to the end of the season and this was one of those games".

With the strong wind behind the visitors, the Cuckoos defence soaked up the inevitable first half pressure until the 36th minute, when Steve Diggin broke down the right hand side and rifled a low shot into the net.

James Picillo came very close to levelling the score within a few minutes of the restart, but chances for the Cuckoos were in short supply as the Cooks dominated midfield and comfortably marshalled Yaxley's forward line.

Fortunately for Yaxley, Buckingham Town and Ford Sports (Daventry) both lost which means that they held their table position above 3 other relegation battlers.

Also losing last night 2-0 at Northampton Spencer were St. Ives Town who the Cuckoos face at Leading Drove tomorrow night (Thursday) in the Hunts FA Premier Cup quarter final - 7:45pm KO.
