Hinchingbrooke Cup Tuesday

October 2007
Rothwell
Corinthians (0) - Yaxley (2)
Corinthians competed well against the Cuckoos but
the visitors missing a handful of first team starters always looked to have the
upper hand in this Sergeant's Lawn contest.
Elio Salerno's well struck effort forced home keeper Liam Flecknor into a tip
over, while Mario Palazzo missed a good opening for the visitors after weaving
through the Corinths defence.
Yaxley went ahead four minutes before the break when Palazzo found space to fire
home.
Good footwork and a well struck effort from Pete Callan forced John Feetham into
a full length save, but the outcome was never in doubt after the events of the
65th minute. Corinths had Ollie Rendall red carded and from the free kick
resulting from his foul, Ricky Hailstone's accurate delivery found Chris Lenton
whose header was saved by Flecknor at the expense of a corner. The reprieve was
short lived for Corinths as Hailstone's flag kick found Lenton whose low shot
found the net for his second goal in 2 games..
The home side threw caution to the wind late on but their best effort from Kevin
Fox saw Feetham save point blank to preserve his clean sheet.
Corinths: Liam Flecknor, Chris Dunn, Nathan Mitchell, Tom Judge, Ollie Rendall,
Kevin Fox, Tom Johnson, Phil Cox, Dave Briffa, Pete Callan (John Boss), Andy
White (Ben Johnson).
Yaxley: John Feetham, Danny Steward, Scott Bogusz, Sam Kingston, Chris Lenton,
Mario Palazzo (Sam Bate), Dan Fountain, Lee Blewett, Matt Parrott, Ricky
Hailstone, Elio Salerno.
The Cuckoos travel to St. Neots on Saturday (13th) for what always turns into
a passionate fixture.
